Ben Scott - Club President
Ben is a Pittsburgh Pennsylvania native (and naturally a diehard Steelers fan) who has been on the move since attending college at Purdue University in Indiana. After graduation he lived in Ogden Utah for five years and in the process fell in love with everything about the Rocky Mountains. Ben has been a skier since practically birth and since moving to the West has begun taken up backcountry skiing and park skiing but has no desire to venture into the strange triathlete habit of skate skiing. “Why put in so much effort if you can’t ski down what you climb like you can while in the backcountry?”
Ben spent most of his summers in Utah rock climbing but recently picked up running and mountain biking about two years ago. While working in Utah at ATK Space Systems as an engineer Ben was inspired by a co-working who had signed up for his first marathon. After running a half and two full marathons in Utah, Ben, was again inspired by a college fraternity brother who had just completed Ironman Louisville. Per his advice, Ben finished his first spring triathlon in the fall of 2010 and was immediately addicted to the sport. Call it irony but no less than five months later Ben found himself moving to Boulder Colorado to begin work for an Aerospace Company in nearby Longmont. Ben would probably lie if you asked him, but he initially had no idea that Boulder could be considered the Mecca of the triathlon world; talk about luck.
Ben found the BTC through Google and, looking to meet like minded people in the area, joined the club this past tri season. Since joining he’s met loads of smart, fun, and crazy athletic people through the club and is looking forward to developing more personal relationships and supporting the team this upcoming season.
Warren Schuckies – Club Vice President
I have been doing triathlons since 1986, when I did my first in Calloway Gardens, GA and a member of the BTC since moving to Boulder in 2007 . I keyed on doing a tri, since I was a very average runner and wanted to do something, back then, that not many other people were doing. The sport has given me the opportunity to meet hundreds of great people and keep a fitness level that many people my age don’t ever acquire (except in Boulder).
My wife Pam (see BTC Secretary) and I have been married for 27 years and have two great kids, Erica (26) and Scotty (24). I consider myself a Midwestern guy, “GO BUCKEYES”, even though Pam and I moved to Colorado from the Atlanta, Georgia area, with stints in North Carolina and Texas before that. We have been active in the Triathlon/Running communities in several places including being VP and a charter member of the Pikes Peak Triathlon Club in Colorado Springs and helping start a small team of racers in Peachtree City, GA.
In Boulder we have found a community like no other. World class athletes and age groupers training side by side, in the beauty of the Rocky Mountain Region. We plan on making this home for a long time to come

We moved to Boulder in 2006. After a visit here years before, I knew somewhere in my head and heart that we would someday live here. I was born and raised in North Carolina, graduated from the University of North Carolina, and while I love and miss the South, living in Boulder is a very special privilege.
My work is with instructional and assessment technology. My family includes my awesome husband Warren(see VP above!) and our exceptionally wonderful kids, who have grown up, graduated from college and gotten real jobs! Our daughter Erica lives and works in Austin TX and our son Scotty is currently living and working in Australia. This leaves us with a couple of extra bedrooms - often filled by visiting professional athletes from Australia or elsewhere, who come to take advantage of Boulder’s great training resources and beautiful countryside.
I started running to drop a few pounds after our kids were born, and in the early 90‘s it led to road races, duathlons and eventually triathlons. Warren became a triathlete back in the mid-80’s, and is responsible for easing me into the sport over the years, finally convincing me that I could learn to swim(still a work in progress). My favorite triathlon distances are 70.3 and full Ironman, and I hope to continue to improve even as I get older. I think I’m learning at last how to train smarter, the importance of nutrition, rest and recovery - and how important the mental side of training and racing is. I did my first Ironman race in 2002, and have crossed that Ironman finish line 7 times now, including the Ironman World Championship in 2010. Ironman continues to draw me in as a deep personal challenge through which I learn so much about myself.

I did my first triathlon at 15 years old (22 years ago) and myself and my whole family were quickly heavily involved in triathlon from that point on. In the early days I was a serious racer and was on the Great Britain National Triathlon team for 5 years gaining many great experiences, races, friends, wins "... and losses...".
During that time I had many people providing help and guidance and realized how important it is to encourage people both at an early age and anyone starting the sport. I became very active in the Junior triathlon club within our town coaching and encouraging new athletes coming in.
I moved to the USA in 2002 and after a bit of a break from racing was persuaded to start up again by friends quickly enjoying the sport once again more for the social aspect and keeping fit. I also at this point quickly became team mentor and coach to my friend group and gained great pleasure in seeing them advance (but making sure I could still beat them all of course!)
Moving to Boulder in 2011 with my wife Kelly (who I met doing triathlon) we now have a growing family with the addition of baby John. I am very excited to be involved in the BTC and be able to start an official mentor program here – with the aim in the future of potentially a junior triathlon club in the future.
Wendy is a Kindergarten teacher for SVVSD and a freelance writer specializing in health and nutrition. A dedicated runner, enthusiastic cyclist, and begrudging pool-goer, her favorite sporting accomplishments to date are her completing her first iron-distance triathlon at Vineman in 2009, racing to a 20-minute marathon PR in Phoenix in 2010, Boston in 2011, and surviving the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim to Rim. When Wendy isn’t teaching, writing or training, chances are she’s overly doting on her floofy little white dog or cooking recipe experiments for her food blog.
My name is Sally Dyer and I am a mother, wife, career women and all around regular person who loves triathlon. It was an accidental marathon training injury that brought me into the world of triathlon in 2008. Since then I have completed 2 Ironman events and hope to continue as long as I am able. When asked ‘why do you do that?’ I say ‘because I can’. The Boulder Triathlon Community is tremendous; I couldn’t be happier to live here and be a part of it all. I support the club by organizing the ‘Adopt-a-Road’ program so we can keep our cycling roads clean and I help with volunteer efforts when possible.
Eric Kenney - Athletics Director
This will be Eric’s 3rd year with the club. The last 2 being a board member as the clubs training coordinator. Having Eric as a coaching sponsor and the training coordinator gives BTC athletes a unique opportunity to training with and interact with one of the best coaches in the country. Eric competed in ironman Ca. in 2010. after falling short of a qualifying spot he returned to the start line in 2011 this time at Ironman lake placid and earned a Qualifying spot to the world championship in Kailua- Kona, Hi.
